Social Management of Intragender Nudity
Tomková, Hana ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
Social management of intragender nudity Hana Tomková In this thesis, I examine women's behaviour in spaces with limited privacy, such as changing rooms and showers at sports venues or wellness facilities. In the theoretical part of the thesis I try to use the literature to highlight the issue of judging not only female nudity and the issue of increased female veiling in spaces where intragender nudity is expected. In this first, theoretical, part, I deal with the definition of shame and its possible presence in such spaces. I formulate the assumption that this shame, and by extension increased levels of veiling, may be due to the judgement of bodies based on the prevalence of medical and other professional discourses among the lay public. I use Foucaultian theories of judging the obedience and utility of the body to define such judgments in this thesis, where I attempt to point out that in our, modern, age, experts are not the only ones with the power to judge. In this thesis I have used qualitative research, specifically ethnographic and autoethnographic observations, supplemented by interviews. The research showed that rather than a sense of judgement, it is habit, covering up based on learned stereotypes, the desire to maintain personal space and, last but not least, personal responsibility,...
Ethical aspects of photojournalism with focus on sports
Krátká, Eliška ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Lábová, Sandra (referee)
Theoretical part of this bachelor's thesis utilizes relevant scholar literature and interviews with photographers to define ethically disputed aspects of photojournalism such as invasion of privacy, media coverage of crises, depiction of violence, death and nudity, as well as picture manipulation - both before a photography is taken and during postproduction process. The thesis particularly focuses on sports photography and ethically disputed aspects related specifically to this field. Followingly, it lays out the limits of photographic display - which are crucial to discuss in relation to the subject of this text - and the trinity of basic principles regarding ethical decision-making (utilitarian principal, absolutist principal, golden rule) that should be considered by photojournalists and picture editors while publishing images that might be considered ethically controversial. Practical part of this thesis captures youth football team FK Admira Prague during 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons. It shows their training, matches and the backstage of their football world - both its light and dark sides.

Bažantová, Jitka ; Půtová, Barbora (advisor) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
The subject of this thesis is to analyze the perception of a naked female body in French society of the 2nd half of the 19th century. The work focuses on discovering, highlighting and interpreting the theme of female nudity in artistic works of this period, which provoked strong reactions and influenced contemporary culture. The first part is consecrated to the position of women in the 2nd half of the 19th century society on historical, social and cultural backgrounds and its changes in the ambience of the first wave of the women's movement. The attention is brought to some significant representatives of early feminism and to the goals and innovations these personalities were aiming to achieve. The second part of the thesis describes and analyzes selected works of art on the theme of female nudity. First, it deals with the works of academic painters who were the bearers of traditional artistic ideals and academic rules for displaying naked female body. Their artistic production is nowadays somewhat underestimated. In art history, however, it plays an important role. Therefore, the value of their work for the study of the perception of a naked female body is not omitted. The interest then turns to the Impressionism, the outstanding 2nd half of the 19th century art movement. In the center of...

The main goal of the diploma thesis is to describe the development of content in Czech and American Playboy and compare them both over the years and the American and Czech versions with each other. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the development of both American and Czech Playboy and the changes that have occurred in the magazine are included in the cultural development and contemporary context of the USA and the Czech Republic. The diploma thesis seeks the causes of changes and development of the journal, in culture and society, in their changed attitudes, norms and values. At the same time, in this diploma thesis I deal with the Playboy audience and agenda setting. Three years 2010, 2015 and 2020 are selected for analysis in the practical part. As part of the quantitative content analysis, I examine which topics, articles and sections appear in the issue, which topics have disappeared or appeared over time and which part of the magazine is occupied by nudity. Using qualitative analysis, I focus on the transformation of the cover pages of Playboy magazine, the depiction of women on such cover pages and the comparison of American and Czech covers.
